I'm a self confessed IT nerd who learnt to program on a computer extension for the Intellivision gaming system.. That possibly says something about my age. I was terribly excited when my father brought home an IBM XT which had 640kb ram, and 2 floppy drives. Since then I have graduated to even older hardware, IBM Z series mainframes.. So I am old school, but still take an active interest in all things new..
Although I have never embraced the whole mobile phone thing, I like all the other new stuff happening out there in this new web world.
Social networking and its productive uses (that excludes useless Facebook games.. throwing cows.. really?)
Guilty as charged , I am an IT nerd who was seduced by the dark ways of the CPU . Originally a DJ when that actually meant vinyl however somewhere along the line I discovered the Internet, yep that means I am of a similar vintage to Ant. Building Online applications have been my labour of love and I am a true lover of gadgets and unlike Ant have a great relationship with my phone.
A true believer that digital world is the future , I love to build the technology of the future and embrace all that goes click or even double click for that matter.

“A little bit nerdy” comes close to a pretty accurate description of me.
I don’t have a particularly technical background. I studied Commerce (Accounting and Finance major) at university and subsequently joined the banking industry. Although I have been into computers since I bought my first HP 386 PC for Uni; I kind of “fell into” IT, when our project worked to implement a new core banking system. Fast forward to now … where I work in solution design. The fact that I’m not exactly a tech boffin begs the question, ‘what can I bring to the Techblah!™ podcast?’ The answer is simply, amusing commentary and my unique brand of rhetoric and commentary that is just that “little bit nerdy”. My current diversions include:
"Uncle" Peter K (peter@techblah.com)
![]() Gamer by nature, and a fan of all things tech. I still remember that unforgettable noise of my commodore 64 tape drive loading up for a good half an hour and sounding like a dial up handshaking on laxatives.
Those were the days of Ghouls and Ghosts, Golden Axe, and a heck of a fun time. I spent many weekends coding in basic to create my own games and programs. I Moved up the technology chain to a SEGA master system, then the Genesis/Megadrive, SNES… I was finally introduced to the world of PC gaming.
Some of my IT related interests and hobbies:
You can find me on LinkedIN and Facebook, but I only accept real friends and am not aiming to win the competition of the biggest friends list. |
